-Last week, Chris Kanyon(Chris Klucsaritis), 40, committed suicide
by overdosing on antidepressant pills in
his Queens, New York apartment(Credit : AP). His brother found his body
Friday along with a suicide note. The Wrestling Roundtable sends it's
condolences to Kanyon's friends & family.
-Kenny Valentine(Kenneth Layton), 45, indy wrestler from Alabama, died a
week and a half ago when he crashed his truck in to Mennonite a church
in Munfordville, KY, killing himself & 10 other people(Credit :
latimes.com).
-Bob Ziolkowski(Big Daddy/Baby Haystacks), 34, Wisconsin indy wrestler,
died Sunday morning of heart failure.
-Tom Burton, 46, former Tennessee & UWFI wrestler, died March 29th
after complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(Credit :
WGN).
-This past Friday on Smackdown, Jack Swagger used his Money In The Bank
briefcase on (WCW) World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho after
Jericho was beaten down by Edge to win his first world title in 8
seconds...unless you
count the ECW title as a world title, which it was, but WWE didn't
recognize it as such, even though it was probably more of a world title
in it's WWE run than the real ECW. So anyway, that means Swagger's a
2-time world champion. Also on Smackdown, Cryme Tyme was split up as
Shad turned on JTG.
-On Saturday, Ring Of Honor presented their second iPPV Big Bang and
lots of news came out of the event : The
Kings Of Wrestling won their second ROH Tag Team title from champions
The Briscoes. Earlier in the night, "Fallen
Angel" Christopher Daniels made his return to ROH after TNA released him
last Wednesday & WWE showed no interest. Luchadors
Super Parka, Solar, Magno, Cassandro El Exotico(who broke his tibia in a
bout with Rhett Titus) & NWA National Champion Phil Shatter all
debuted while Blue Demon Jr. also returned.
-Last week's Monday Night War ratings between WWE's RAW & TNA's
iMPACT! ended in a slaughter : WWE jumped from the previous week's 3.7
to 3.2, whereas TNA continued to drop, to 0.6 - a 34.9% drop from the
previous
week's 0.9(Credit : Hamilton Ave Journal). However, this week, iMPACT
rebounded from last week's all-time low
back to a 0.9, while RAW stayed at 3.2. TNA has seen it's ratings rise
150% recently in the UK on Bravo.
-Last night on iMPACT!, Angelina Love reclaimed the Knockouts Title from
Tara to become a 3-time champion after
an 8-woman tag match, the Knockouts LockBox Showdown, where the team of
themselves along with Hamada &
ODB fought Lacey Von Erich, Velvet Skye, Madison Rayne & Daffney.
Love's team received four keys to unlock four boxes with a random prize.
Tara opened a box that had her pet spider in it, but she therefore lost
title. Love opened the box with the title in it and is the new
champion. I'm embarrassed even typing this shit.
-Speaking of embarrassing, Wrestlelicious signed syndication deals with
14 new stations recently.
-UFC finalized a deal with the city of Vancouver, BC Canada to run UFC
115 June 12th at the General Motors Place(Credit : wrestling observer).
-The final card for Strikeforce : Nashville on April 17th has been set
and Bobby Lashley will not be fighting on the
card, be it CBS or in a prelim, as he could not get doctor's permission
to fight after having sinus surgery recently.
While Strikeforce has to contend with UFC showing a cable TV replay of
UFC 110 on Spike TV, Lashley is hoping to
fight in May.
-Pro Wrestling Respect's Delirious will be touring Pro Wrestling NOAH of
Japan for their Spring Navigation 2010 tour and is expected to see more
action in Japan/Asia.

in Lemoore, CA on May 5th.

New Japan against Jushin Liger May 3rd
in Fukuoka, Japan(Credit : Lucha World).

April 13th in New Orleans(Credit : pwinsider).
-WWE will be releasing a biographer of Dustin Rhodes/Goldust, with a
working title of Cross Rhodes, by the end of 2010(Credit : pwinsider).
-Jesse Ventura announced on Alex Jones' radio show today that his TruTV
series Conspiracy Theory will be 10
episodes next season and is expected to air sometime in the fall.
DEAD WRESTLER TALLY FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS : 4
Tuesday, April 13, 2010 :
-Wrestling
Roundtable Radio starts TONIGHT at 11pm EST on
blogtalkradio.com/wrestlingroundtable.
We'll be
reviewing WrestleMania
26 & the latest UFC main events until midnight, but if you can't
listen live, the show will be archived on BlogTalkRadio,
as well as
uploaded to our YouTube &
iTunes
pages. We'll be taking calls
& having
guests in the future, but for the premiere, we have the
floor & we'll be covering what you've been waiting to hear.
-Speaking of iTunes,
we're finally updating the iTunes
page, starting with the first
episode ever! With the first 14 episodes online already, most of Season 1
is currently no longer available on YouTube, so
if you want to
re-listen to
our older conversations, or if you're a newer listener who
missed them the first time, this is a great chance to hear
the first
season(including the Banned Episode that got us flagged by WWE on
YouTube). We'll be continuing to update the entire archive of the show
on iTunes
as the weeks progress.
-Glen "Ice Pick"
Bussell, 22, Kentucky indy wrestler, died last weekend in Scott County,
KY from a car accident
(Credit : WGN).
-UFC 112 emanated from
the Concert Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE this past Saturday & saw much
controversy. The 43-year old debuting Renzo Gracie lost via TKO to Matt
Huges in a welterweight bout. Lightweight Champion BJ Penn, undefeated
in this division for 8 years, finally was usurped, losing to New
Jersey's Frankie Edgar via decision. Finally,
in the main event,
Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva infuriated UFC
President Dana White, the
fans in the arena & all over the world by
showboating his way to a weak decision victory over Demian Maia. Dana
White
said last week that UFC would be doing a show, likely
for the troops, in Afghanistan in the next several months.
-WAMMA Heavyweight
Champion Fedor Emelianenko, still in the midst of contract
re-negotiations between M-1 Global

Arena in Japan.
-WWE is moving Friday

Tuesday night
home of WWE NXT, as reported by
the LA Times.
SyFy will be
paying close to $30 million a year for the B-Show, which is set to start
on the network in the fall and will also signal the end of NXT on
SyFy, as NXT may be shopped elsewhere, such as Bravo(Credit :
pwinsider).
-Last night, TNA debuted
the new hype show 'Reaction' at 7pm, an hour before iMPACT! on Monday
nights and the
same time Hulk Hogan's show on Sirius/XM Radio's Howard 101 channel
also debuted. On iMPACT! itself, Dog The Bounter Hunter appeared in
the audience while his biggest fan Jeff Hardy received some burns on his
face from
James Storm's fireball attack angle(Credit : pwinsider). Hardy
probably said, "Thanks for the light!" They also did an angle where
Captain Abyss was found backstage having "just been run over by a car." I
wonder
if Rikishi did it for
The Rock?
-Last night on WWE RAW,
Eve Torres defeated Maryse for the Diva's title. Flava Flav hosts RAW on
May 10th, and Jon Lovitz hosts May 24th(Credit : wrestling observer).

hispanic Pittsburgh, PA model) several weeks ago, will be taking time
off after TNA's
Lockdown PPV this Sunday, joining Mick Foley on hiatus(Credit :
WGN). Angle also will be in a movie promoting amateur wrestling named
"Beyond The Mat." Sounds familiar. Anyway, this is Angle's fiance,
courtesy of Model Mayhem :

Not
Bad, Kurt. Congratulations
-Bobby Lashley &
Kristal Marshall have separated.
-Brock Lesnar & wife
Rena(Sable) are expecting their second child, another son, in

his quad muscle in Glasgow, Scotland at a house show on WWE's European
Tour this
weekend
in a match against Kane, the same tour Billy Kidman was getting a tryout
as a
producer/agent. He will need surgery that will put him out 3-6 months.
Also, Ted Dibiase Jr. suffered a head wound at Ireland's house show in a
three-way
against Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes that required staples(Credit

the Carolinas, is it?
-Scott Siegel, the actor

in The Wrestler movie, was sentenced to 63 months in prison yesterday
for possessing & distributing steroids, and assaulting police
officers in February last year(Credit : pwinsider).

as we'll be discussing the career of Kanyon in light of his recent
suicide as well as how it relates to homosexuals in wrestling, Shawn
Michaels' career,
UFC's heavyweight division & our picks for who we would build our
own promotion around.
-Wrestling
Roundtable Radio also returns on BlogTalkRadio
tomorrow night at 11pm EST/8pm PST. We'll be discussing the latest
major UFC fights from 111 & 112 as well as this past Saturday's
Strikeforce show. We'll also try to take calls, so make sure to call
347-857-4647, and listen at
blogtalkradio.com/wrestlingroundtable!
-Gene Kiniski, 81, former WWA, AWA & NWA World Heavyweight champion,
died a week ago from cancer.
-Strikeforce presented Saturday Night Fights on CBS this past Saturday
and was nothing if not noteworthy ; "King Mo" Lawal defeated Gegard
Mousasi via unanimous decision for the Light Heavyweight title in
Mousasi's first defense. Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez defeated
DREAM's Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki(DREAM's title not on the line)
in his first defense via unanimous decision. In the main event,
Middleweight Champion Jake Shields defeated Dan Henderson, also by
unanimous decision, but the real
story was Jason "Mayhem" Miller causing just that, as he entered the
cage during Sheilds' post-fight
nterview asking for a rematch and a fight ensued between Miller,
Shields, Shields' entourage & security. The Tennessee Athletic
Commission is planning on launching an investigation in to the
fight(Credit : MMAJunkie).
-UFC & the Nevada State Athletic Commission have made official a
July 3rd event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This is likely to be 116
headlined by the Lesnar/Carwin Heavyweight unification fight(Credit :
MMAJunkie).
-UFC President Dana White has stated that if Middleweight Champion
Anderson Silva fights(or is it, non-fights?) like he did in his last
performance at 112 ever again he will be fired on the spot. Silva's next
opponent Chael Sonnen will likely challenge Silva at UFC 117, August
7th in Salt Lake City, UT(Credit : UFCEvents).
-Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted Wednesday and
stopped thousands of flights in & out of Europe starting
this past Thursday due to the danger of flying through volcanic ash. As
such,
WWE Smackdown shows in
Innsbruck, Austria & Istanbul, Turkey, scheduled for this past
weekend, were postponed until sometime later this year so the crew could
return home earlier, where they ended up making up most of the Monday
Night RAW last night at the IZOD Center in New Jersey, with the
still-stranded-until-at least-tomorrow RAW crew doing promos via
satellite and Lillian Garcia returning for one-night-only, though some
are still worried about delays & the consequences of getting the
crew back in time for the Extreme Rules PPV this Sunday.
-After being unable to fly out of England to defend his X title this
past Sunday at Lockdown in St. Louis, MO, TNA stripped Doug Williams of
the title & replaced him with Homicide in the originally scheduled
three-way with Kazarian & Shannon Moore. Kazarian reclaimed the
vacant title(his second title reign) to become new champion. Not to be
outdone as far as stupid title switches go, TNA also had Madison Rayne
become a
double champion as the Knockouts Tag Champion won a tag match with
championship partner Velvet Skye against Knockouts Champion Angelina
Love & Tara when Rayne pinned Tara. Rayne now holds both belts.
Lastly, Sean Waltman no-showed the event, originally scheduled to team
with Scott Hall against Team 3D
and replaced by Kevin Nash for an Outsiders reunion, though no concrete
reason has been determined why
Waltman did not go.
-Last night on iMPACT!, Samoa Joe returned to TV, part of Team Hogan as a
face. Also, Rob Van Dam
defeated AJ Styles to become the new TNA World Champion! This is RVD's
third world title, and makes him the only person to hold the WWE, ECW
& TNA world titles. TNA will also be announcing a new ranking
system for the world title next week.
-Batista was set to star in WWE Studio's next film, Killing Karma, until
WWE did just that last week &
replaced Batista with HHH in his leading role, reportedly because
Batista has intentions on leaving for Hollywood to become an actor &
hasn't signed a new contract(Credit : wrestling observer). It also
means
HHH was not on the European tour, thus His presence on RAW last night.
-Also stranded in Europe this weekend were Claudio Castagnoli & Dan
Severn. Severn was to have fought Darren Towler Saturday night in
Newcastle, England but could not get a flight from Amsterdam(Credit :
wrestling observer).
-Jim Ross, who will be getting the Art Abrams (lifetime achievement)
Award from the Cauliflower Alley Club next week(where Ted Dibiase Sr.
& Dan Severn will also be given awards, if Severn is able to return
from Europe), was told by WWE that they've chosen not to use him on the
air & will "reassign" him, though his current contract extension
runs out April 30th(Credit : wrestling observer). Rumors of TNA offering
JR a big
money deal to jump when he's a fre agent abound, as Bischoff was pushing
heavy to sign Jim Ross prior to
January 4th.
-Last week, Jim Cornette sent a personal email to TNA executive Terry
Taylor on his work/TNA address which included a paragraph or so
detailing
his wish to murder to Vince Russo should he ever get the chance. Taylor
forwarded the
email, and TNA responded by threatening legal actions against Cornette
for "terroristic
threats." Since then, Eric Bischoff & Cornette have
had a war of words, mainly on the internet.
-Big Vito caused a riot last week in match against the Himalaya Kid in
Kathmandu, Nepal.

will be wrestling for Neo Ladies Wrestling soon in Japan. Lance Cade
also returns to Japan May 15th, for AJPW(Credit : WGN).
-A three-city Australian indy wrestling tour that was set for May has
been canceled due to low ticket sales(Credit : wrestling observer).
-WGN reports talk of a King Of The Ring tournament to take place
sometime this year. RAW is 3 hours next week, and the next
commercial-free RAW will be May 17th from Toronto. WWE has contacted
Tiger Woods about hosting RAW in Miami instead of The Rock.

wrestling observer). They will start airing in May.

over the weekend in the Bronx,
NY with Shane's two children. So much for the rift(Credit : WGN).

Vegas(Credit : WGN).

diabetes(Credit : WGN).

past Wednesday in Columbia, PA(Credit : wrestling observer).
-TMZ, new leading source for news in America, broke the story yesterday
that UFC fighter Tito Ortiz was arrested at his home for domestic
violence against girlfriend Jenna Jameson. Jameson claims she suffered
torn ligaments in her arm after Ortiz threw her to the ground(though
she's apparently changed her story many times) and won't be allowed to
see Tito for a month due to a restraining order, but wants to 'work
things out' for the sake of their two children. However, after she will
be pressing charges. Ortiz was released from jail at 4:30pm PST
yesterday on $25,000 bond with no arraignment date set. Dana White said
that Ortiz 'could be' cut from the roster, while Ortiz claimed Jenna's
injuries were from a fall due to oxycontin addiction and he didn't touch
her.
-WEC held their first PPV this past Saturday & Zuffa was in full
promotion mode, using UFC's announcer crew of Mike Goldberg, Joe Rogan
& Bruce Buffer along with getting the Prelim. fights on Spike TV
before the PPV broadcast started from the Arco Arena in Sacramento,
CA(sans "WEC" branding due to that brand being on Versus). In the main
event, Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo continued his hot streak by
defeating former champion Urijah Faber via unanimous decision.
Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson quickly dispatched of Donald Cerrone
via tap out from guillotine choke in the 1st round, Manvil "The Anvil"
Gamburyan knocked out Mike Brown in the 1st round via punches, and on
the prelims, Leonard Garcia narrowly beat Chan Sung Jung via split
decision in a true war! One of the bigger stories, however, was Dana
White sitting with Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields on
camera. Shields, who just defended his belt on CBS a week prior, looks
to be signing with UFC when his Strikeforce contracts ends in the next
45-60 days.
-WWE's Extreme Rules PPV from Baltimore, MD this past Sunday saw WWE
Champion John Cena defeating Batista(who is looking to be gone from WWE
in a few more weeks time) in a last man standing match & (WCW) World
Champion Jack Swagger beat Randy Orton. Joey Mercury returned to WWE as
a member of The Straight Edge Society, helping CM Punk defeat Rey
Mysterio Jr. The only title change of the night came when
Beth Phoenix defeated Michelle McCool to win her second Women's title.
-WWE fired many wrestlers last week in what was described as "budget
reasons." Shelton Benjamin, Mickie James, Kung Fu Naki, Jimmy Wang Yang,
Slam Master J, Mike Knox & Katie Lea Burchill were all released.
Mickie James had been on WWE's shitlist for a while, but after stalling
WWE's European tour bus twice last week, rumored to have been due to
being drunk, it was the last straw. Some loud Mickie James fans were
thrown out of the building at Extreme Rules Sunday in her hometown.
Yoshi Tatsu claimed on his blog that Funaki left due to a nagging neck
injury, but Funaki is expected to wrestle for ZERO-ONE in Japan
shortly(Credit : pwinsider). Both Benjamin & James are expected in
TNA eventually though some stops in ROH are possible, with Jimmy Yang
making overtures that he'd like to be in TNA.
-Also stemming from last week's stranded-in-Europe roster, Mark Henry
was given a police caution in Belfast, Ireland after an incident where
he threw a drink at a fan asking for autographs(Credit : Derry Journal)
-Last night on RAW, The Hart Dynasty of DH Smith & Tyson Kidd won
the WWE Tag Team Championship from ShowMiz when The Miz tapped to Kidd's
sharpshooter. Big Show turned on Miz after the match, knocking him out
with a punch. Elsewhere, Edge speared Randy Orton in the triple
threat/#1 contenders main event between Orton, Sheamus & Batista,
giving Dave the victory & turning Edge heel. The big focus of the
show, however, was the Draft, which saw these switches :
To Smackdown : Big Show, Kelly Kelly, Kofi Kingston, Christian
To RAW : Edge, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, John Morrison
The "Supplemental Draft" on WWE.com this afternoon, saw the following as
well :
To Smackdown : Cody Rhodes, Chavo Guerrero, Chris Masters, Hornswaggle,
Rosa Mendes, MVP
To RAW : Great Khali, Ranjin Singh, Natalya, Ezekiel Jackson, Goldust,
DH Smith, Tyson Kidd
Wayne Brady will host RAW next week, while Rob Zombie has been offered a
spot on June 28th(Credit : WGN).
-Last night on iMPACT!, the most noteworthy occurrence was Abyss "won"
Ric Flair's WWE HOF ring. For real. Eric Bischoff announced TNA's
ranking system for the world title would be include fans voting on who
deserves a shot as well as other factors. TNA runs a house show at the
(ECW) Arena September 24th(Credit : pwinsider).
-Ratings for last week's shows saw iMPACT! rise back to a 1.0(0.95) and
RAW slip to a 3.1(3.0). NXT did 0.9.
This week, however, iMPACT hit an all-time low of 0.5, whereas RAW
stayed at 3.1

against Tara & Knockout Champion Madison Rayne where she apparently
got caught in Tara's knee brace. Love is expected to be out 3-4 weeks,
as she suffered a partially torn bicep & a torn UCL(Credit : WGN).

-The big story from 8 days ago on RAW was the end of WWE Champion John
Cena's main event match against CM Punk, as the 8 NXT Season 1 rookies
stormed the ring, attacked announcers, agents & wrestlers alike,
then destroyed the ringside area, including the ring itself. Even
though a follow-up attack/match was done at the FCW tapings days alter,
Daniel Bryan was fired Friday by WWE due to outside pressure from an
influential party on WWE(speculated to be someone with Linda McMahon's
campaign) for his choking of ring announcer Justin Roberts with
Roberts' tie due it being too 'associated with Chris Benoit(How HHH
& HBK get away with using Benoit's own finisher, the Crippler
Crossface, that he used to actually kill his own son remains a mystery
to me, but I digress….).' Bryan was fired essentially to set an example
as a scapegoat, but is expected to be re-signed before his 90-day no
compete clause runs out. In the meantime, he is looking in to
independent bookings that fit within his contract stipulations(Credit :
wrestling observer, pwinsider, WGN). The follow-up last night on RAW
was the 7 remaining rookies kidnapping GM Bret Hart & crashing his
car in response to Hart's storyline firing of Wade Barrett &
refusal to sign the other wrestlers. Also, The Miz re-claimed the US
title in a 4-way with Champion R-Truth, John Morrison & Zack Ryder,

Also, Mirko Cro Cop defeated Pat Barry via submission(rear naked choke)
4:30 in to the third round, and Ben Rothwell defeated Gilbert Yvel via
unanimous decision, both in heavyweight contests.
-This past Sunday, TNA presented Slammiversary 2010 at the iMPACT! Zone
in Orlando, FL, which saw Rob Van Dam defend the TNA World title
against Sting in the main event, Tommy Dreamer debuted - appearing in
the crowd at the end of the Brother Ray Vs. Jesse Neal match, and Roxxi
lost to Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne in a bout with the impromptu
stip. of title vs. career, which was added last minute when Roxxi was
released that night, though it is expected she might be brought back in
the future, probably on TNA's latest pay-per-appearance policy that
Christopher Daniels is expected to take them up on before summer's end.
Lisa Marie Varon(Tara/Victoria) would be interested in coming back if
they meet her pay demands, as WGN reports she has decided not to pursue
an MMA career. ODB - who recently filed for her name's trademark - has

show in New Jersey on July 3rd & many in TNA are pushing to sign

due to the court being busy.

require surgery if physical therapy doesn't work.
-Despite Vince McMahon claiming weeks ago that it would be scrapped, The Survivor Series will take place November 21st.
-If you can sort out this LA Par-K Vs. Super Parka or La Parka or
whatever the fuck it is, let me know….alright, let's try : AAA's
Triplemania on June 6th saw L.A. Par-K defeat La Parka Jr. and can be
called 'La Parka' again, but then he gave it up because he's done well
with 'L.A. Park-K.' But now they might do a rematch with the same
stip.s. Whatever. Also on the show, Jack Evans won the AAA
Cruiserweight title in a 4-way with Christopher Daniels, NOSAWA &
Champion Extreme Tiger, Dr. Wagner, Jr. won the Mega Heavyweight title
from Electroshock, Octagoncito beat Champion Mini Abismo Negro, Mini
