-Dusty Don Murdoch, pro wrestling manager in New Jersey's BODYSLAM Wrestling Organization, died Wednesday morning, January 12, 2011(Credit : pwinsider).

RESULTS :

-On Saturday January 8th, Mesias defeated Carlito for the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship by pinfall following a Messiah Splash(and aided by interference from Shane Sewell) at 'Euphoria 2011' from Cancha Pepin Cestero Jose Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Also, MVP defeated Orlando Colon by pinfall following a PlayMaker(Credit : Super Luchas).

-The first wrestling pay per view of 2011, TNA Genesis 2011, took place this past Sunday January 9th from the iMPACT! Zone in Orlando, FL. Kazarian defeated X Champion Jay Lethal by pinfall following a tombstone piledriver 12:00 in to their match to reclaim the title, making him a 4-time Champion. Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns lost their belts to Beer Money, Inc. when Robert Rude used a rollup(holding the tights) on Chris Sabin in 18:00 to reclaim their belts, making them 4-time Champions. TV Champion AJ Styles tore his hip labrum & flexor running to help his son recently and could be out 4-6 weeks if he needs surgery, but will miss the upcoming UK tour regardless. As such, Abyss replaced Styles in Styles' title defense against Douglas Williams, Abyss winning by pinfall in 11:00 following a Black Hole Slam to become the new Champion. Matt Hardy debuted in TNA as the Immortals' mystery opponent for Rob Van Dam, beating RVD with a pinfall(and foot on the ropes) following a Twist Of Hate in 11:00. And in the main event, Ken Anderson won his first World title by defeating World Champion Jeff Hardy by pinfall following a Mic Check in 9:00.

-This past Monday January 10th at Nashville, TN's Bridgestone Arena, Shawn Michaels returned as he was introduced as the first inductee of WWE's Hall Of Fame 2011 class. Before getting a word in, Alberto Del Rio interrupted to cut a promo, only to be superkicked by HBK.

-On Smackdown airing tomorrow but taped Tuesday night January 11th in Birmingham, AL's BJCC Arena, Justin Gabirel, Heath Slater & Ezekiel Jackson beat down The Big Show at the end of Show's match with Wade Barrett, aligning themselves with Barrett(Credit : wrestling observer).

SHAKE UPS :

-Karen Angle returns on iMPACT! this Thursday. Stevie Richards, however, has quit TNA, while Jesse Neal has signed a three-year contract  and Scott Steiner returned to TNA as part of Amazing Red & Crimson(Little Red)'s "they" at the iMAPCT! taping last night Wednesday January 12th in Orlando, FL at the iMPACT! Zone for airing on Thursday January 27th. TNA is also in negotiations with The Jersey Shore's Angelina Piyarnick about wrestling Cookie in a match(Credit : pwinsider, TMZ). 

-Shane Helms has signed with Lucha Libre USA.

-Titan Fighting Championship has signed Phil Baroni(13-13) to a multi-fight deal, with his first to be March 25th in Kansas City, KS against a to-be-named opponent(Credit : MMAJunkie).

-HDNet has decided not to renew their TV deal with Ring Of Honor. Their current deal expires in April, though they are still considering future live specials with ROH.

-Joey Ryan has replaced recently Adam Pearce as NWA's booker in Hollywood, CA.

-Bellator FC has signed Joe Riggs(34-12), though it is not known whether he'll be fighting at welterweight or middleweight(Credit : 411mania).

LEGAL :

-Ernest Mack Shell, promoter of East Coast Wrestling Promotions' "Dare To Compare" show in Burshfork, WV's National Guard Armory this past Saturday January 8th, was arrested late Saturday night on 10 counts of 'obtaining services on false pretenses' for failing to pay any staff or wrestlers of the show that night. His bail set for $50,000 at the Bluefield City Jail, he faces 19 more counts in Kentucky(Credit : Bluefield Daily Telegrapgh).

-Former WWE RAW GM Mike Adamle was arrested at 1am on Monday January 10th for DUI, disobeying a traffic control device & failing to inform the Security State's office of an address change. He was taken to a hospital for a drug screen and is due in court February 14th(Credit : Chicago Sun-Times).

BUSINESS :

-WWE has signed a new 3-year TV deal with Sky Deutschland to air in Germany, Austria & Switzerland for pay per views, RAW, Afterburn & Superstars.

UPCOMING :

-UFC's Fight For The Troops 2 show on Saturday January 22nd will feature a featherweight bout between Mark Hominick(19-8) and George Roop(11-6-1). Should Hominick get passed Roop, he'll be in line for a featherweight title shot against Champion Jose Aldo(18-1) at UFC 129, Saturday April 30th at Montreal, Quebec, Canada's Rogers Centre(Credit : MMAJunkie).

-Lightweight MMA veteran Jen Pulver(22-14-1) headlines XFO 38 on Saturday January 22nd at Woodstock, IL's Harley Davidson against Mike Lindquist(6-19). -TNA tapes iMPACT! outside of the iMPACT! Zone in Orlando, FL for the first time, taping in Fayetteville, NC's Crown Center on February 24th.

-UFC's The Ultimate Fighter season 13 will be an all welterweight season coached by heavyweights Brock Lesnar(5-2) and Junior Dos Santos(12-1) that tapes this month to premiere on Spike TV March 30th and culminates with The Ultimate Fighter Finale at The Palms Casino Resort's The Pearl in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday June 4th. -Paul Lincoln, 78, British wrestler and promoter died on Tuesday January 11th due to cancer and Parkinson's disease(Credit : WGN).

RESULTS :

-At a press conference at New York City, NY's Madison Square Garden this past Thursday January 13th, UFC President Dana White stated that the UFC would hold at least two events in New York within the first year of the sport finally getting regulated in the state, if regulation should occur. The two events would at MSG itself and upstate NY. White has also since said middleweight Wanderlai Silva(33-10-1) will face Brian Stann(10-3) in Silva's return fight from three broken ribs & knee surgery to repair a torn ACL, expected to be in the spring(Credit : MMAFighting).

-Also this past Thursday at Tampa, FL's FCW Arena, Seth Rollins won the Jack Brisco Classic tournament, defeating Hunico in sudden death overtime of the finals, making him the first FCW 15 Champion(Credit : inside pulse).

-As confirmed last night on WWE Monday Night RAW from Little Rock, AR's Verizon Arena, the 2011 Royal Rumble will feature 40 participants, a first for a Rumble match. At the end of the show, FCW Champion Mason Ryan debuted as part of New Nexus lead by CM Punk, kicking Punk to give him the disqualification win against John Cena 15:00 in to their main event matchup. Tyson Kidd's bodyguard Jackson Andrews has been sent back to FCW, however, while Cena claimed last week on his Twitter that he was fined for using the word "ass" in his promo on the previous RAW. 

SHAKE UPS :

-Bradon Barker, a graduate of Lance Storm's Calgary-based wrestling school, has been offered a WWE developmental deal(Credit : WGN). Also, several Pro Wrestling Respect wrestlers are being looked at for WWE's new Tough Enough series on the USA Network.

-Generation Me and Sarita have signed contract extensions with TNA(2 years, in Sarita's case), while Divina Fly, El Generico & T.J. Perkins were given dark match tryouts at the iMPACT! tapings last week(Credit : WGN).

-The winner of Strikeforce's Heavyweight World Grand Priz tournament will receive a title shot against Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem(34-11). Though he is participating in the tournament, Overeem's belt will not be on the line during his tournament fights, and he will be free to return to FEG's K-1 and/or DREAM in Japan following the tournament.

-Rumors are that DREAM Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki(26-6) is considering retirement(Credit : MMA Fighting).

HEALTH :

-The Philadelphia medical examiner's office has determined that Trent Acid died from drug intoxication, ruling his June 18th, 2010 death an accidental overdose(Credit : WGN).

-WWE recently hired psychiatrist Dr. Mark Unterberg, clinical professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, to evaluate talent and address any potential issues before they develop(Credit : WGN).

-Following his loss to DREAM Welterweight Champion Marius Zaromskis(14-5) at FEG's Dynamite!! 2011 due to ref stoppage after his ear was torn off, DREAM welterweight Kazushi Sakuraba(26-15-1, 2 NCs) successfully had his ear reattached to his head following a four hour surgery(Credit : MMAFighting).

-According to UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez(9-0)'s trainer Javier Mendez, Velasquez could be ready to fight again after getting shoulder surgery as early as August or as late as December.

-Alex Shelley's band, The High Crusade, has stated that Shelley suffered a broken collarbone on Sunday's TNA house show in Hagerstown, ML in tag match with Chris Sabin against Generation ME(Credit : Wrestling News World).

-AJ Styles has said he won't require surgery on his injured hip and is hoping for a February in-ring return.

-Tara had an MRI on her injured elbow this past Friday January 14 due to it not healing properly.

-Former WrestleMania main evener & SuperBowl winner Lawrence Taylor, 51, plead guilty on Thursday January 13th to two misdemeanors - sexual misconduct & patronizing a prostitute - as part of a plea deal charges of paying a runaway 16-year-old hooker for sex. He will serve 6 years probation and must register as a sex offender. Taylor had assisted investigations in to human trafficking in several jurisdictions since the charge, including a federal case against the girl's alleged pimp(Credit : AP).

-Mike Adamle's attorney Dean Dickie claims Adamle was below the legal Illinois alcohol limit with a 0.004 breathalyzer read when he was pulled over on January 10th, and that Adamele fully cooperated with authorities on the night of his arrest, demonstrated sobriety & intends to defend the charges(Credit : TribLocal).

-Shawn Osborne, 34, former OVW wrestler, committed suicide by shooting himself on Wednesday January 26th(Credit : WGN).

RESULTS :

-Jim Ross was special referee for the main event dark match of Intertcontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & Rey Mysterio Vs. Kane & Alberto Del Rio at the Smackdown tapings on Tuesday January 18th in Tulsa's Bank Of Oklahoma Center. At the beginning of the taping that aired this past Friday, Wade Barrett's group was named The Corre.

-Ring Of Honor taped their last shows for HDNet at the Asylum Arena in Philadelphia, PA this past Friday January 21st & Saturday January 22nd. Christian York & Devon Storm debuted for ROH(both in dark matches; Storm on Friday against Steve Corino, York against Slyk Wagner Brown on Saturday), Mike Bennett won the Top Prospect tournament by defeating Kyle O'Reilly in the finals by pinfall following a Side Effect, and Prince Nana debuted new Embassy members Barrister R.D. -UFC presented Fight Night 23 : Fight For Troops 2 this past Saturday January 22nd from the Fort Hood base in Killeen, Texas. Heavyweights Pat Barry(6-2) defeated Joey Beltran(12-5) by unanimous decision, along with Matt Mitrione(4-0) getting a TKO(punches) victory over Tim Hague(12-5) 2:59 in to round 1, while featherweight Mark Hominick(20-8) earned a title shot against Champion Jose Aldo(18-1) at UFC 129 in Toronto on Saturday April 30th with his TKO win over George Roop(11-7-1) 1:28 in to round 1. In the main event, lightweight Melvin Guillard(27-8-2, 1 NC) defeated Evan Dunham(11-2) by TKO(strikes) 2:58 in to round 1.

-The first night of 'NJPW Presents CMLL Fantastica Mania 2011' on Samurai! TV took place Saturday January 22nd from Tokyo, Japan's Korakuen Hall. Ryusuke Taguchi defeated CMLL Welterweight Champion Mascara Dorda by pinfall after a Dondon to win the title. CMLL Middlweight Champion Jushin Liger retained the title over La Sombra, whom he defeated by pinfall following a brainbuster. -Sunday January 23rd saw the 2nd night of NJPW/CMLL's Fantastica 2011, once again on Samurai! TV from Korakuen Hall. Tiger Mask (IV) defeated Tomohiro Ishii in a mask vs. hair match by pinfall with a Tiger Suplex in 12:16, leading to Ishii's headshaving. Apollo 55 (IWGJP Junior Heavyweight Champion Prince Devitt & CMLL Welterweight Champion Ryusuke Taguchi) defeated IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Golden Lovers for the belts in 16:32 by pinfall when Taguchi pinned Omega following a Black Sunday.

-GAORA TV's "GAORA 20th Anniversary Super Fight 2011" took place last night, Thursday January 24th, at Tokyo, Japan's JCB Hall. All Japan's Keiji Muto teamed with NJPW's Jushin "Thunder" Liger & Dragon Gate's CIMA to defeat AJPW's Suwama, DG's Masato Yoshino & Michinoku Pro Wrestling's Great Sasuke by pinfall 17:59 in to the match after Muto hit Sasuke with a Shining Wizard(Credit : Puroresu Fan).

-Kurt Angle left TNA's European tour Saturday in Lyon, France on Saturday January 22nd to be with his fiancee Giovanna Yannotti, who gave birth prematurely to a baby girl(Giuliana Maria Angle) that day after labor was induced following admittance to a hospital due to extremely high blood pressure and fainting(Credit : wrestling observer). While the baby is reportedly healthy, Giovanna was in intensive care but is said to be doing better.

-Linda McMahon has said that running for U.S. Senate in 2012 "remains an option".

-WWE will be bringing back the Diva Search later this year(Credit : WGN).

-El Hijo De Medico Asesino has signed with WWE(Credit : Super Luchas).

-ROH has re-signed The Briscoes, while Tammy Sytch once again appears on their WrestleMania weekend shows in Atlanta, GA's Center Stage, April 1st & 2nd.

-Lizzy Valentine has signed with Lucha Libra USA, which also features Tigresa Caliente(formerly TNA's Rhaka Khan) and Kevin Kelly on commentary(Credit : pwinsider).

-Superstar Billy Graham was hospitalized in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday January 18th for a shot of antibiotics for an allergic reaction to pollen.

-luchador Crazy Boy will be out of action for at least 2 months after suffering an injury during a dive(Credit : Lucha World).

-Tara is attempting physical therapy for her injured elbow.

-UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira(32-6-1, 1 NC), still recovering from ACL surgery on his left knee, will be getting arthroscopic surgery on his hips in a couple weeks according to his managerr Ed Soares, though "Minotauro" is targeting a late 2011 return to the cage, with a goal of fighting on UFC's Brazil card (Credit : MMAJunkie).

-The Great Khali & 15 bodyguards were involved in a shooting Friday January 21st at the Ludhiana, India home of Deputy Speaker of the Punjab State Assembly, Mr. Satpal Gosain. Khali & his entourage arrived to a crowd of fans, to which an allegedly drunk bodyguard responded with violence, shoving children, beating a boy & shooting 40 bullets in to the crowd to scare them when the mob tried rescuing the boy from the beating. One person out of the around 40 person-sized crowd was reportedly injured(Credit : Slam! Wrestling, The Times Of India).

-Former WWF wrestler Johnny K-9 was arrested in May 2009 in connection to a biker gang murder plot. The one-time Hamilton, ON Canada bike gang leader, along with 5 others, have been charged with the first-degree murder of Jonathan Barder & the attempted murder of Vicky King(Credit : The Spec).

-Jesse Ventura is suing the Transportation Security Administration(TSA) & the Department Of Homeland Security, filing a lawsuit on Monday January 24th that asks a Minnesota federal judge to issue an injunction ordering officials to stop "warrantless and suspicionless" scans & body searches that violate his right to be free from unreasonable search & seizure. TSA Administrator John Pistole and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano were named as defendants(Credit : MSNBC).

-Sid was arrested Friday January 21st in Memphis, TN for possession of 18 grams of marijuana in his car when he was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt. Released on a $1,000 bond, Sid also faces charges of driving without a license(Credit : ABC News).

-A court hearing for Alex Riley's November DUI/driving with a suspended license bust takes place Tuesday February 22nd(Credit : WGN).

-Delayed from Thursday January 20th, a continuance was issued for Jeff Hardy's court case with the next court date now set for Wednesday February 16th(Credit : pwinsider).

-WWE filed a lawsuit in Connecticut for a jury trial against Italy's Interactive S.P.A. on Thursday February 3rd for breach of contract regarding $551,087 owed for licensing WWE programming to Sportitalia Channel & SI Live as well as $129,752.20 plus interest for the rights to the Italian language WWE website. WWE & J SPORTS Broadcasting Corporation, however, have extended their agreement to air WWE programming for 5 more years while they are also negotiating with Version regarding the WWE Network.

On the main card, Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem's brother Valentijn(29-25) made a successful Strikeforce debut, defeating heavyweight Ray Sefo(2-1) 1:37 in to round 1 in a World Grand Prix tournament reserve fight using a neck crank submission. Two more reserve fights followed, as Chad Griggs(10-1) beat Gianpiero Villante(7-2) by 1st round TKO in 2:49, and Shane Del Rosario(11-0) stayed undefeated against Lavar Johnson(15-4) with an armbar submission, 4:31 in to round 1. However, returning GM Teddy Long ordered an immediate title defense against former Champion Edge, which Edge won in 3:00 via pinfall following a Spear to win the World Heavyweight title for a 7th time, making him an 11-time World Champion.
