-Connecticut Secretary Of State Susan Bysiewicz had informal conversations with election officials Friday to bar anyone wearing WWE merchandise from voting while wearing WWE garb this coming Tuesday November 2nd in the state of Connecticut. According to state law, political signs and messages must be kept at least 75 feet away from the polls or it would be considered electioneering. Bysiewicz argued that WWE material could potentially be seen as support for senatorial candidate Linda McMahon(WWE's former CEO), and therefore, such potential voters could have to remove such material before casting their votes at the polls. Though no such ban actually materialized, Vince McMahon claimed that WWE fans wearing WWE merchandise would be banned from voting at all and sought a court injunction against it anyway in a lawsuit against Bysiewicz.
CT Federal Judge Janet Bond Arterton ruled yesterday morning that voters wearing anything WWE would be allowed to vote while wearing said merchandise. In fact, WWE will be giving away merchandise near select CT polls. Bysiewicz previously worked with WWE on the Smackdown Your Vote campaign while running for CT governor last year.
